Include cash purchase or down payment, setup gear and other initial costs. Keep emergency reserves separate. This is cash flow, not depreciation; count each expense once.

Your plan, at a glance

Make room for the road.

Annual figures repeat this example month twelve times. First-year cash adds starting costs once. Seasons, repairs, taxes and existing home costs can change your real budget.

How the estimate works

Monthly costs = paid nights × nightly price + miles ÷ MPG × fuel price + the other monthly amounts. Annual costs = monthly costs × 12. First-year cash = annual costs + one-time starting costs. A reserve entered under maintenance is money set aside; an actual repair paid from that reserve should not be counted again.
